Smyths Toys to open at Eden Shopping Centre

Smyths Toys Superstores will open its first UK shopping‑centre store at Eden Shopping Centre in High Wycombe before Christmas, marking a shift from the retailer’s usual retail‑park locations.

New store brings a specialist toy retailer into town‑centre retail

The upcoming outlet occupies 21,419 sq ft and will sit beside Boots and opposite Kids Corner, two existing anchors in the centre’s family‑focused zone. Shoppers can expect a broad assortment that includes toys, games, gaming gear, bicycles, outdoor play equipment, baby items and nursery essentials from leading global brands.

Eden Shopping Centre hosts more than 100 retail, leisure and dining brands, offers over 1,600 parking spaces and houses the town’s bus station. The railway station lies a short walk away, giving the new Smyths store easy access for residents of High Wycombe and nearby towns.

According to the centre’s director, Andrew Norton, securing the retailer “is a landmark moment for Eden and a major vote of confidence in High Wycombe town centre.” He added that the store’s placement “creates a family‑focused retail hub within the centre.”

Strategic move reflects broader leasing activity at Eden

The announcement arrives amid a period of strong leasing activity at the shopping centre. Earlier this year, Mountain Warehouse and Pirates Landing opened, expanding the family‑leisure mix. Additional brands such as ProCook, 7th Heaven and Wingstop are slated to launch later in the year, reinforcing Eden’s position as a regional destination.

While Smyths currently runs more than 300 stores across Europe, its UK footprint has been limited to standalone sites in retail parks. The Eden opening represents the first instance of the chain integrating into a mixed‑use town‑centre environment, a move that could signal a shift in its overall approach.

From a practical standpoint, the outlet’s location next to a pharmacy and a children’s clothing retailer may drive cross‑traffic, encouraging families to combine errands and leisure activities in a single visit. The proximity to public transport and ample parking further supports this convenience‑focused approach.

Future announcements will detail the exact opening date, recruitment drives and any launch celebrations planned for the November rollout.
