The British retailer John Lewis has broadened its quick delivery service through partnerships with Deliveroo and Uber Eats, offering approximately 10,000 products across London and certain Home Counties.
Shoppers near eight John Lewis locations can receive orders in as little as 30 minutes, with participating stores including Oxford Street, Peter Jones, Welwyn Garden City, Bluewater, and Kingston.
This service targets urgent needs such as last-minute gifts and replacement technology, ensuring swift delivery for time-sensitive purchases.
This initiative is part of John Lewis’s broader £800m multi-year transformation plan, which focuses on enhancing its stores, website, and app.
The retailer’s click-and-collect service allows next-day pickup from nearly 16,000 locations, including Waitrose stores.
This expansion coincides with the 25th anniversary of the John Lewis website, which launched in 2001 with an initial 5,000 products.
In preparation for peak trading, John Lewis is upgrading its website and app to handle up to 150,000 daily online orders, with improvements including a redesigned layout, enhanced content, and better search functionality.
The mobile app currently drives around 40% of the retailer’s online sales.
Additionally, John Lewis is set to introduce an AI-powered product finder before Christmas, optimizing its digital platforms for increased traffic from virtual assistants.
John Lewis chief digital and omnichannel officer Dom McBrien stated: “Whether shoppers are seeking expert advice from Partners in our stores, picking up an order via click and collect, or ordering via our Deliveroo or Uber Eats for delivery in 30 minutes, we are meeting them wherever they are with trusted quality and exceptional service.
“By expanding our rapid delivery option alongside major website upgrades, we are giving customers ultimate convenience and flexibility without ever compromising on the service they expect from John Lewis.”
This means customers can now depend on John Lewis for a diverse array of items, from urgent tech replacements to thoughtful gifts, all backed by swift delivery and reliable quality.
In March, John Lewis invested in AI-powered shopping tools and piloted sales through TikTok Shop as part of its ongoing £800m transformation efforts.
