Tesco has announced its largest-ever expansion of the Clubcard loyalty scheme, allowing members to collect points when shopping with more than 500 new partner brands. This marks a substantial rise from the previous 13 external partners, with the new offerings spanning fashion, beauty, homeware, travel, and entertainment.
How the new scheme works
Under the expanded program, customers can earn points on everyday spending outside of Tesco, with some partners offering rates higher than the standard one point per pound. For instance, Nike is currently offering up to four points per pound, meaning a £100 purchase could earn 400 points. This converts into a £4 Clubcard voucher, which members can later exchange for rewards. Seven restaurant partners provide triple value, potentially turning that £4 voucher into £12 toward a meal.
To earn points, Clubcard members must access participating retailers’ online stores through the Clubcard section of the Tesco app or via the dedicated website. Tesco partnered with loyalty technology provider Valuedynamx to build the new platform. The initiative coincides with the upcoming holiday season, allowing shoppers to collect points on planned spending during Black Friday and Christmas. By integrating these external retailers, Tesco aims to capture loyalty during key shopping periods when consumers are already making purchases across various categories.
Partnership and access details
Tesco group loyalty and membership director Shama Wilson stated that today marks the biggest expansion of the partner brands where customers can collect Clubcard points. She noted that more than 500 brands are now available across various categories. Wilson added that as the company heads into Black Friday and Christmas, customers can collect points on spending they are planning to do and turn those points into rewards that matter most to them. The scheme represents a strategic shift in how Tesco engages with its customer base, broadening the scope of the loyalty program to include essential daily expenses.
