Many people are turning towards swapping their powder products for cream makeup products, as it helps you to achieve a gorgeous glow in a few simple steps! Matte looks aren’t as popular now, with more people wanting to get their skin looking dewy, so if you’re wanting to achieve this too, learn how to apply cream makeup properly with us!
Prep Your Base
The key to applying cream makeup products well starts with the right base. Make sure you cleanse the skin well to remove any oils or other products from the skin, then use a moisturiser to hydrate the skin properly. Follow up with a primer for further hydration and to add a slightly tacky layer to the skin to allow the product to stay in place all day. From here, choose a hydrating foundation or skin tint, and allow it to dry for a couple of minutes. After this, your skin will be well prepped and hydrated for the rest of your makeup routine.
Use A Dense, Synthetic Brush
Next, you should use a dense, synthetic brush to apply your cream product. You can apply your product accurately to the area you want it to be concentrated in, e.g. upper cheekbone for blush or under the cheekbone with the cream bronzer. You can then begin to blend outwards to create a more diffused look. Using a dense brush like this helps you to be more precise but also blend out to create the look you want. Start with a smaller amount and you can gradually build it up depending on how much intensity you’re looking for!
Layers Are So Important
Another thing that is key to getting your cream makeup right is to make sure you’re layering in the right order. The vital thing is to make sure you don’t apply your cream products after any powder, as this will cause it to look patchy and cakey. So, after your liquid base, go in with your cream blush, bronzer and concealer, as we’ve discussed. You can apply powders after you’ve applied all your cream products, but make sure not to apply anything before.
Use A Setting Spray
Once you’ve applied your glowy, cream products, you don’t want to remove the dewy look. So, instead of setting the entire face with powder, use a setting spray. This will keep the product in place and maintain the glow you’ve worked hard to achieve! Try to find a long-lasting, dewy setting spray, as if you use a matte it will remove some of the glow. Then, just use a small amount of powder to areas where makeup tends to come off or crease, such as under the eyes, around the nose or on the chin.
