LA Foods has marked the opening of its new flagship London Nisa store on Holloway Road, Islington, with a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony, celebrating over 25 years in business with Co-op Wholesale.
The ceremony, held on Saturday, 8th August, 2026, signals a key milestone for the partners, following a five-year contract extension, and will see the store benefit from an increased focus on Co-op Brand products.
New Store Features
The newest Nisa store in LA Foods’ portfolio proudly displays the new Nisa fascia and proposition, launched by the Co-op Wholesale symbol earlier this year, and will feature award-winning, popular lines across the store.
A standout feature of the store is the prominent produce island positioned at the entrance, showcasing an extensive selection of loose fresh fruits and vegetables, designed to inspire customers with convenient meal solutions.
Further store enhancements include a significantly expanded chilled range, the introduction of electronic shelf edge labels to streamline operations and improve pricing accuracy, as well as a food-to-go solution stocked with award-winning Co-op brand product.
Community Support
Co-op Wholesale’s charity, Making A Difference Locally, will have a presence in the store, supporting retail partners through fundraising via Co-op brand products’ sales to support local causes.
LA Foods’ Owner, Tabrez Hussain, commented: “We’re thrilled to be opening our new Nisa store in the heart of Islington and are delighted with how it looks and feels, our partnership with Co-op Wholesale is stronger than ever thanks to the support the team continues to offer us.”
Customer Director at Co-op Wholesale, Martin Swadling, also commented: “It was great to be part of such a wonderful Nisa store opening, as it always is when it’s in partnership with a brilliant business like LA Foods.”
The new store opening reflects LA Foods’ continued commitment to investing in its estate, improving customer experience, and strengthening its role within the communities it serves, with 13 of its London-based stores currently operating under the Nisa fascia.
Partnership and Investment
LA Foods’ convenience business will continue to benefit from Co-op Wholesale’s competitive pricing, market-leading availability, award-winning Co-op brand range, and leading independent retail expertise, with the new store expected to drive footfall and increase sales.
The store’s location, next to the Odeon cinema on Holloway Road, is conveniently situated to serve the local community, with a range of products and services designed to meet their needs, including an in-store coffee provision and a food-to-go solution.
With the new store now open, LA Foods is confident that it can provide customers with what they need, when they need it, and is committed to continuing to invest in its estate and improve the customer experience.
They are focused on growth.
LA Foods and Co-op Wholesale have a long history of collaboration, with Co-op Wholesale providing support and services to help LA Foods succeed, such as new interim chair appointments.
Tabrez Hussain said the company is looking forward to working with Co-op Wholesale to drive sales and improve customer experience, similar to how Matt Rogers has improved supply chain operations at Gymshark.
