Froot Pops launches in Ireland

Froot Pops, the UK’s leading frozen fruit snack brand, will launch in Ireland next week, marking its first expansion outside its home market. The product line features whole frozen fruits coated in chocolate and will debut in all Dunnes Stores at €7.50 for a 220g bag.

Three varieties will be available: raspberries dipped in white and dark chocolate, strawberries in white and milk chocolate, and raspberries in white and milk chocolate. The brand has also secured distribution in 75 Tesco stores across the Republic of Ireland and 25 in Northern Ireland, where two flavors—strawberries in white and milk chocolate and raspberries in the same coating—will be stocked.

Cross-brand promotion ties launch to pizza deals

A joint promotion with Crosta Mollica will offer shoppers two-for-€10 deals on any flavor pizza paired with a bag of Froot Pops. The campaign aims to introduce the brand to Irish consumers while leveraging existing frozen food sales.

Founder Ana Martins said the expansion is “a really exciting next chapter” for the brand, which began as a homemade treat in 2024. She thanked Tesco and Dunnes for helping the company make its market debut and expressed enthusiasm about customer reactions.

The move follows a year of rapid growth in the UK, where sales rose by 400%. The brand has positioned itself as a colorful alternative in the frozen snack category, using British-grown fruit and smooth chocolate coatings.

Its recent rebranding took cues from 1960s graphic design, giving the packaging a retro look while keeping a playful tone. The update was designed to improve shelf visibility without losing the brand’s original charm.

Irish debut tests demand for frozen fruit snacks

The expansion reflects broader trends in the frozen food sector, where consumers seek healthier snacks that remain convenient. While frozen fruit snacks are still a niche, Froot Pops’ UK growth suggests potential demand for indulgent yet fruit-based products. Its performance could determine whether similar brands enter other European markets.

Retailers are betting on the brand’s appeal. Dunnes Stores will carry the full range, while Tesco’s limited rollout indicates a cautious approach. Both chains have experience introducing UK brands to Irish shoppers, though few have matched Froot Pops’ success in its home market.

The Irish launch will not include all UK flavors initially. The raspberry and dark chocolate variety is missing but may be added later based on early sales. Pricing matches the UK market, where the product is positioned as a premium snack.

Martins noted the brand’s focus on quality ingredients.

Distribution will expand if demand meets expectations.
